The delectable Bongani, who is scheduled to leave next week for Miss World scheduled for Ordos, Mongolia, was given US$10 000 cash prize and a wardrobe courtesy of Edgars as well as beauty and skin care hamper courtesy of Mary Kay Cosmetics during a prize-giving ceremony held in Harare.
The cosmetic company also pledged to support Bongani throughout her reign while Edgars also appointed her as the Face of Kelso Career, joining the league of
previous winners like Malaika Mushandu, who is Edgars’ Face of the Chatter Club, and Olsie Muringai, the Face of Merien Hall label.
Ruvimbo Katiyo, the second princess got US$3 000 while Pertina Nhamburo, who is the first princess, went home US$5 000 richer. Miss Personality Plaxedes Gororo got US$2 000 among other fabulous prizes.
Presenting the wardrobe, Edgars brand and marketing executive Rita Chinyoka said the clothing retail giant was proud to be associated with the Miss Zimbabwe pageant.
“We are in the business of clothing and are proud to work with the Miss Zimbabwe Trust. We hope to continue supporting the pageant and our relationship will not end with the wardrobe but will continue. When she returns from the contest she will be the face of Kelso Career,” she said.
Margaret Mavurudza, of MK Beauty Consultancy, wished Bongani well at the Miss World contest saying they were proud that Zimbabwe was being well represented at the prestigious event. She said her company would supply Bongani with skin and beauty products throughout the year.
Kiki Divaris, the Miss Zimbabwe Trust patron, thanked the Government and the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority for supporting the pageant over the years.
She urged the winners to use their reign to better not only their lives but the communities at large.
She said the winners should not worry about what the pageant will do to them but what they would learn from winning the titles.
