Missing Bulawayo pensioner found safe in Luveve

A 78-year-old Bulawayo man who had been reported missing after disappearing from his home in Old Magwegwe on Tuesday evening has been found alive and well in Luveve suburb.

Mr Peteon Chikutuva, who suffers from dementia, was located on Wednesday, bringing relief to his family and members of the public who had joined efforts to trace him.

His son, Mr Junior Peteon Chikutuva, confirmed that the elderly man had been found safe and thanked members of the community for their support and concern.

“We are grateful that our father has been found alive and well in Luveve. We would like to thank everyone who shared information and assisted in the search,” said Mr Chikutuva.

Mr Chikutuva had gone missing after leaving his Old Magwegwe home despite relatives’ attempts to stop him from going out as darkness approached. He had indicated that he wanted to check on his maize field.

The family had reported the matter to Magwegwe Police Station and appealed for public assistance in locating him.

His safe return has brought relief to the family after an anxious search that drew widespread support from the community.
