Old Georgians coach, Grant Mitchell, has hailed his team following their success in the Summer Sevens Series at the weekend. OGs beat Sports Club 24-15 in the final. “The series went as planned for OGs and the reward was fitting for a team that worked consistently hard at achieving the goals they set for themselves over the past weeks,” said Mitchell. The tournament was obviously a success for us and is yet another massive achievement for all the players involved.

“To win the Summer Series for seven years in a row is just reward for consistency.
We have a great blend of experience, leadership, youth, enthusiasm, workhorses, unselfish players and talent.
“The players are consistently driven by a desire to achieve the goals they set and the squad has developed a very competitive culture that is backed by a passion to represent OGs and the badge.”

Sports Club Sevens coach Daniel Hondo believes his men made some mistakes.
“We made some few mistakes, we did not perform well in the first half, the boys were slow and Old Georgians capitalised on that,” said Hondo.
“I think only two players might make it into the Cheetahs squad.

“The game was tough and OGs had most of the possession, my boys only came back fighting in the second half but it was too late for them.
“Credit to Old Georgians, who capitalised on our mistakes, I guess it has been a learning curve for my boys and we will definitely bounce back next season.”
