Mketekete went into the game as one of the favourites and the country’s second ranked golfer did not disappoint.
The Chapman golfer pocketed US$2 200 for his performance to start the season on a high note.
Mketekete was happy with his showing and said he now expects to continue doing well.
“I am happy with my performance I was playing well and I hope to maintain this form. The game was very competitive especially on the second day when I played the best golfers who gave me pressure but I managed to maintain my composure.
“I now look forward to the following games and I hope I will have a good season this time around,” Mketekete said.
Tongoona Charamba came second after carding 70 and 67.
Charamba had to play cautiously on the second day and was chasing eventual winner Mketekete who beat him by a single shot.

“It’s a little bit of adrenaline. Keeps you going . . . you know, it’s always a little pick-me-up if you’re struggling a little bit. It’s fun. It’s nice to hear, Go Hokies on every tee.
