Mlambo rallies Platinum Queens

PLATINUM Queens’ coach Simbarashe Mlambo has rallied his team to end the season on a high.

They are currently leading the championship race in the Premier Netball League. The Zvishavane-based side are occupying the top spot with 52 points from 26 games.

They are yet to lose a match.

The league is expected to end this weekend with the last games being played in a bubble set for Beitbridge. The Beitbridge bubble is the fourth and last one for the season.

Mlambo said the players know what is at stake and is confident they will not lapse on the final hurdle.

“I don’t want to pressure the girls because they know what is at stake.

“They also like being on top of the table. They like being important and celebrated by fellow netballers and other teams and as a coach you begin to appreciate how much they have sacrificed for you and how much they will break a leg for you.

“That is to be applauded and I really think that it’s a good thing that we are winning.

“Finishing on top of the league is everybody’s dream, whether you have done it before or you haven’t… Naturally you want to be first but that doesn’t stop us from feeling a bit of pressure,” said Mlambo.

Harare City are on second position with 49 points and Rhinos are third with 42 points.
