Hip-hop group MMT has dropped its debut 14-track album titled “MMT-LP” whose official release date is October 31. The three member group made up of Mariachi, MC Cut and award winning Tatea Da MC described the album as a masterpiece. MC Cut real name Michael Sagomba, one of the group’s co-founder said the album is set to re-define what the group is all about on the Hip-hop scene.
“MMT can be best described as a group of pundits who address and redress social commentaries through music. Our music cuts across all ages and we are urging our fans to expect quality street music which relates to all the people. We are ready to set new standards,” said MC Cut.
“MMT-LP” features the three hit singles namely “Zvidhori”, “Party Yatanga” and “Chakaipa” featuring dancehall sensation Dhadza D.
The trio is enjoying a purple patch in their short career in which they have proved to all and sundry that they are some of the talented rappers to emerge from Zimbabwe judged by their popularity at the monthly Star FM’s “Big Chill” gigs.
The group has been releasing singles which some of them got generous airplay on all radio stations. The new album is likely to take the self proclaimed “super-group” to new heights.
Music producer Alexender “Xndr” Mutumba hailed MMT for setting the bar high for their contemporaries.
“I have known MMT from the beginning and the guys have what it takes to go international. With all due respect, they deserve a 10 over 10. I truly believe if the boys,” said Xndr.
Other artistes featured on the album include Stunner, Munetsi, Alvina, Alkamai, Kapital K, Marcques, YoungNash and Dj Smylie.
MMT stands for the trio’s stage names initials from their first names, Mariachi, MC Cut and Tatea Da MC.
The outfit is bracing for top honours at this year’s edition of Zimbabwe Hip-hop Awards slated for December.
