Mobile toilets for high-traffic areas

Government is set to introduce regulations for portable toilets as it looks at ways to improve sanitation and hygiene across the country.
A stakeholder consultation will be held to develop guidelines and standards for mobile toilets, including their use, maintenance, and disposal.

The Zimbabwe Mobile Sanitation Association (ZMSA) welcomed the Government’s initiative and is actively supporting the deployment of mobile toilets in high-traffic areas like bus termini.

ZMSA president, Mr Boston Muteya said local authorities have previously hindered their efforts to combat cholera.

“We are going to supply chroma deck VIP toilets on all trunk roads getting into the central business district with a major focus on the Westgate area leading up to Mt Hampden. We are not doing this for SADC only, but beyond because as ZAMS we are supporting the Government in providing sanitary services in the country.”
