HARARE-bred model, Harriet Majoni, is confident of winning this year’s edition of Miss Environment Zimbabwe to be held in Bulawayo.

The 22-year-old will compete against other models drawn from other province at the grand finale slated in March. In an interview with H-Metro, Harriet, who became a profession model at 19, said she is looking forward to the event.

“I am so happy I will compete in the Miss Environment Zimbabwe since I am one of the finalists for the show to be held in March this year. Although I am looking forward to winning, being able to compete on its own is a great honour and opportunity.

“Through this pageant, I have learnt how to love my environment and become an environmental ambassador through our various projects,” she said.

Harriet, who is running with the theme #Renewable Energy – Powering A Greener Future, added:

“My journey in modelling has been an emotional roller-coaster, from the joy of being discovered and going through modelling school and graduating.

“I went on to audition for the Miss Teen Zimbabwe pageant, and I was so happy when I qualified for the finals, but then again, I wasn’t able to go for the boot-camp because of financial issues.

“In 2019, l stopped modelling and resumed in 2021. Upon resumption, I  went on to compete for the first time in the Miss Facial beauty pageant and emerged second runner-up.” Like any other model, Harriet wants to make it internationally.

“I want to be an internationally recognised model just like my role model Naomi Campbell.

“Naomi was discovered as a schoolgirl and became the first British black model to appear on the cover of British Vogue and she has become a health role model for many young girls.

“She gives me the zeal to work hard and I hope to connect with others in a similar capacity through my modelling.” The overall winner will pocket US$5 000  and drive away a brand new car.
