Afro-fusion group Mokoomba is set to breathe the festive season spirit in music lovers with a celebratory show at New Ambassador Hotel tomorrow. The show will be held on the roof of the hotel that has become a new venue for events organised under the Book Café banner. Mokoomba will share the stage with Chikwata 262, Mudzi and Screaming Eagle Bus Company.
It will be a celebratory show for Mokoomba that recently resumed shows following a break that the group took when three of the band members were involves in a car accident. Mokoomba manager Marcus Gora said the group is ready to thrill fans at the show that is dubbed “Christmas Special”.
“It is a special show for our fans and we are looking forward to a good show. We failed to perform at the venue last time because of the accident that happened a few hours before the show. “We hope this time we will be able to present the best to our fans,” said Gora.
Mokoomba, which is originally from Victoria Falls is popular internationally. They are set to belt out songs like “Mese Mese”, “Nimukonda” and “Welele” among others. The night is going to be different as fans are going to treated to a fusion of different genres.
Mokoomba was formed in 2001 but made their breakthrough in 2008 when they won the Music Crossroads Inter Regional Festival in Lilongwe, Malawi which presented them a chance to tour Europe and launch a promising career. They have performed at various festivals around the world.
