MONEY TALKS

LONDON. The likes of Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho often have the luxury of splashing cash on world-class players.

But which managers have seen their best stars poached for the most amount of money?

Sportingpedia have crunched the numbers to reveal the top ten managers who have made their clubs the most in player sales.

And top of the pile is Atletico Madrid gaffer Diego Simeone.

The Argentine is into his 13th season in charge of the club and has seen them pocket a whopping £983million in the transfer market.

Simeone’s biggest sale comes from letting Antoine Griezmann go to Barcelona for £103m before re-signing him for just £34m three years later.

Atleti have also sold Lucas Hernandez to Bayern Munich for £68m, Rodri to Manchester City for £60m and Thomas Partey to Arsenal for a reported £45m.

Second on the list is Leonardo Jardim, who is currently in charge of Qatari side Al-Rayyan.

But his mega-money sales came when in charge of Monaco from 2014 to 2019.

Jardim saw his incredible team ripped apart by Europe’s biggest clubs as Kylian Mbappe, James Rodriguez, Thomas Lemar, Fabinho, Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy and Anthony Martial all left in deals worth over a supposed £45m.

In third is Guardiola, who has revamped Man City’s team by selling stars like Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane.

Ex-Chelsea managers dominate the top ten with Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, Thomas Tuchel and Rafael Benitez making the cut. – The Sun
