FORMER Premiership outfit Monomotapa are bracing for life in the Zifa Northern Region Division One league after their relegation from the top-flight league last season. The 2008 Premiership champions have since set their sights on survival in the competitive league.Monomotapa will begin their preparations next week and hope to recruit some young players as most of the senior players have remained in the Premiership.

Club chairman Joseph Mukoki yesterday said they were ready to play in Division One.
“To start with, we were relegated because of financial constraints and so we are going to focus on young players.

“The team will return to Dzivarasekwa.
“We will see if there are other clubs who are using the venue and then we will map the way forward,” Mukoki said.
The Monoz boss said they would not lose sleep over those players who chose to stay in the Premiership.

“I know some of our players may feel that they do not want to play in Division One, the club does not, and will not, stand in the way of anyone who wants to move and offer services elsewhere.

“The Monomotapa football brand had become famous and young people know that the club will give them a platform to showcase their talents.

“George Jojo, who has been with Monomotapa technical for some time, will be there to help and we will engage him as the head coach if he is willing.

“The coach is full of experience and he is good at developing young players. We will be aiming to remain in Division One as we are financially crippled but if there is any change then our ambitions will change as well,” said Mukoki.
