ZIMBABWE’S annual inflation rate dropped 0,06 percentage points to 0,09 percent last month compared to 0,15 percent recorded in August, the national statistics agency said.
According to Zimstat’s latest report, the change indicates prices as measured by the all items Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by an average of 0,09 percentage points between September 2013 and September 2014.
The year-on-year inflation rate is given by the percentage change in the index of the relevant month of the current year compared with the index of the same month in the previous year.
Zimstat said the year-on-year food and non-alcoholic beverages inflation prone to transitory shocks stood at -2,95 percent while the non-food inflation rate was 1,59 percent.
The month-on-month inflation rate in September 2014 was 0,01 percent gaining 0,30 percentage points on the August 2014 rate of -0,31 percent.
Zimstat said the trend meant prices as measured by the all items CPI decreased at an average rate of 0,01 percent from August 2014 to September 2014.
The month-on-month food and non-alcoholic beverages inflation stood at -0,34 percent in September 2014, gaining 0,35 percentage points on the August 2014 rate of -0,81 percent.
The month-on-month non-food inflation meanwhile stood at 0,15 percent, gaining 0,22 percentage points on the August 2014 rate of -0,07 percent.
