Morata goes incognito

LONDON. — Alvaro Morata has revealed he disguises himself among Chelsea fans and walks home with them after matches. The £70m summer signing from Real Madrid only lives five minutes from Stamford Bridge. And rather than travelling by car, the star striker often chooses to stroll with supporters.

Morata, Chelsea’s top scorer this season, knows full well he could easily be recognised. So the 25-year-old wears a hat and even takes a beer home if the Blues are celebrating.

“There are times when the match ends and the road is closed and I walk,” Morata said on El Larguero on Spanish radio station Cadena Ser. I change my clothes, I take off Chelsea kit because if not it’s impossible, I put on a hat and go home. If we win the game I’ll take a beer for the road.”

Morata has not been spotted yet but he could be now if Chelsea fans keep their eyes peeled. Their last outing saw the hitman net the winner at home to Manchester United. Going by Morata’s claims, he may well have walked with Chelsea fans after Sunday’s 1-0 victory. And while the Spain striker is now away on international duty, he is expected to start at West Brom next Saturday.
