The Zifa Matabeleland North Division 2A race is heating up and becoming more intriguing by the week as the league pacesetters and army side Moto Moto and Classic Luyando are only separated by three points going into Week 6 this weekend.

Moto Moto’s 1-0 win over Hotspurs Leopards at Sports Pavilion in a re-arranged fixture last Thursday at Sports Pavilion ground thanks to Ernest Gwitima strike, saw them maintaining a two point lead over fierce rivals Blackrock FC.

The second placed Blackrock have a daunting away task against Classic Luyando at 12 noon today at Chinotimba ground as they set the weekend action into motion. Luyando are breathing fire and on Thursday they clobbered town rivals Amagagasi U-19 6-1 at Chinotimba Stadium to show they mean business this season.

Khonzani Nkomo (brace) and goals apiece by Cleopas Ncube, Future Ndlovu, Ian Tshuma and Craig Dinha did the damage.

Not to be outdone, new side Iwisa Sparrows are also in with a big shout in the race as they lie third with 11 points but are inactive this weekend as their game against Amagagasi U-19 has been postponed.

Fourth ranked Hwange Reserves face Trumus Warriors tomorrow at the Colliery Stadium in what promises to be an explosive contest.

Leopards will hope to avenge their mid-week mauling by the soldiers by feasting on visiting OT Lions Academy in a match set for Ralyton ground in Dete this afternoon. At Old ground in Hwange, Nengasha Stars are expected to reap easy points against struggling Ingagula FC.

At Lukosi grounds, Lukosi Pirates are expected to tramp on Victoria Falls-based flying Elephants as they are always difficult to beat at home.

At Cross Dete today at Dampa Secondary School ground, a fiery clash is in store as stubborn Shumba Stars host Baobab Rovers who are hard pressed to go into full gear and rise up the ladder.

Meanwhile, the Zifa Mat North 2B Binga league roared into life last weekend in the fishing resort town with some exciting games which illuminated the scene.

Siansali FC hammered Muchesu Bombers 3-0, Sowa United edged Mangani FC 3-2, Shooting Stars and Kamativi FC settled for a goalless draw while Lunda FC edged Lubanda FC 2-1.
