MORE details of how six Zebra Kiss employees ganged up to savagely attack a passenger have emerged in court and part of the weapons they used include a log from a guava tree while they also rained blows on her face and thrashed her buttocks.
The Gang of Six yesterday appeared before a Mbare Magistrate facing assault and theft charges.
Marlvin Chenjerai Maidei, 32, of Glen Norah, Munashe Nhambura, 26, of Chitungwiza, Decent Musonza, 33, of Mbare, Kudakwashe Gotora, 32, of Marondera, Romario Mugabe, 30, of Highfield and Pardon Chivhanga, 32, of Waterfalls are reported to have assaulted Charlotte Dube, 27, of Stoneridge.
The six appeared before magistrate Tatenda Mukurunga and the State was represented by Simbiso Shonhiwa.
It is the State case that on Friday, at a Zebra Kiss garage in Harare, the six unlawfully bashed Charlotte by assaulting her several times with open hands, wooden sticks and pouring cold water all over her body.
The State says they intended to cause bodily harm or realising that there was a real risk or possibility that bodily harm might result.
Charlotte was coming from Zambia aboard a Zebra Kiss bus.
When she got to the garage where everyone was disembarking and collecting their luggage, one of the passengers claimed that she was missing her sack, which had various wares.
Romario accused Charlotte of having stolen the passenger’s sack since she had only declared a green bag on boarding the bus but was going out with a bag and a sack.
A misunderstanding arose and Romario allegedly hit Charlottee twice with open hands on her face and ordered her to go back into the bus.
They later opened the sack and gave the wares to the passenger who claimed they were her stolen wares.
The other five teamed up and started assaulting Charlotte.
Marlvin assaulted Charlotte with a wooden stick obtained from a guava tree.
He assaulted her several times on her back and buttocks.
Munashe poured cold water all over the complainant’s body.
Decent allegedly assaulted Charlotte on her back and buttocks with a wooden stick taken from a guava tree.
Kudakwashe allegedly assaulted Charlotte with a wooden stick from a guava tree on her back and buttocks.
Romario allegedly hit Charlotte twice on her face with open hands.
Pardon was the one who was allegedly giving instructions to the five accused persons to assault Charlotte as he was standing nearby.
Pardon later ordered that Charlotte should be given water so that she would clean herself after the assault.
Charlotte sustained injuries and was medically examined.
The six were remanded out of custody on free bail until July 17.
