More gifts for cheer

The items included 231 boxes of bath and laundry soap, 50 boxes of lead pencils, 72 walking sticks, 15 wheelchairs and groceries.
Speaking at the ceremony on Monday,  the national director for World Vision,  Mr Edward Brown, said the donation was part of efforts to help the less privileged members of society.

“We felt that since we have a strong relationship with BCC, we should source these items to contribute towards the Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund,” he said.
Mr Brown said the goods were sourced from the Gifts In Kind office in the United States of America.

“We get donations from America, Canada and Australia in bulk,” he said.
Receiving the donation, the Mayor of Bulawayo, Councillor Thaba Moyo, thanked World Vision and its partners for their support and efforts to assist the residents of the city.

“The relationship that we have is a clear demonstration that you have the people of Bulawayo at heart,” said Clr Moyo.
Clr Moyo said the cheer fund this year would cater for more people with 6 800 expected to benefit.
