The competition is likely to attract teams from all ZNA formations, the Zimbabwe Republic Police, the Zimbabwe Prison Services, the Airforce of Zimbabwe, the President’s Office, war veterans, Murenga Club, civilians, security companies and other shooting clubs affiliated to the National Rifle Association of Zimbabwe.
The event’s organiser, Leonard Tsvangira, said they were looking forward to a competitive event.
“We are expecting stiff competition this year judging from the number of seasoned and emerging campaigners who have already confirmed their participation. The objective of the event is to gauge the shooting standards of the security organisations with a view to work on areas that need to be improved on.
“The shoot is a sporting platform for interaction between uniformed and non-uniformed members of the Zimbabwean society,” said Tsvangira.
The Skill at Arms meeting is the culmination of zonal elimination competitions held across the country to select the best competitors and is one of the country’s major shooting competitions leading up to the President’s Medal Shoot.
The event will also bring together women shoottists like Precious Masendu, Evelyn Pfimba and “new kid on the block” Tsitsi Pfudza.
The men’s category is expected to be dominated by Dzingai Chindito, Munyaradzi Mashiri and Mathius Muza.
