MORE than 70 women received accolades at the 2022 Megafest Women’s Awards held in Harare last week.
The winners include The Sunday Mail Editor Victoria Ruzvidzo, who scooped the Female Manager of the Year (Gold) award; Zimpapers advertising and marketing manager Phillipa Gomo, who was named Marketing Manager of the Year (Diamond); Silo Food Industries board chairperson Dr Patience Siwadi (Board Chairperson of the Year, Diamond category); as well as Mrs Rebecca Chisamba and Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa, who jointly received the Philanthropist of the Year (Diamond) accolade.
The women were recognised for their “astounding ability to motivate and produce remarkable results in a remarkable manner”.
More than 250 delegates attended the awards ceremony.
Former Lafarge Cement chief executive Precious Murena, who was guest of honour, congratulated the winners and urged women to be proud of their success.
“When you are good at what you
do, do not be apologetic about being great.
“We all have four seasons in our lives and they happen at different times. Today, there are businesses which are struggling to make it through but a lot of leaders are making it through during that time. A lot of good leaders are emerging,” she said.
Mrs Murena encouraged women
not to give up but keep their heads high.
“Today, you may not feel you are in control but a time will come when everything falls into place,” she said.
The Megafest Awards advocate good business practices and celebrate achievements made throughout Zimbabwe.
