More Zimbabweans are turning up to get their Covid jab with a huge jump being recorded between March 7 and 8.

On March 8, a total of 35 518 frontline health workers had been vaccinated in Zimbabwe, according to the Ministry of Health and Child Care.

While only 226 people were vaccinated on March 7 there was a huge jump on March 8 when 3 278 got the Sinopharm jab.

This is welcome news which shows people are warming up to the vaccine.

With increased information and seeing that those who were vaccinated first are still alive, and have not developed Chinese eyes, contrary to theories peddled by non vaxxers on social media, more frontline essential workers people are turning up.

According to the Centres for Diseases Control and Prevention, Coivd-19 vaccination will be an important tool to help stop the pandemic

Wearing masks and social distancing help reduce a person’s chance of being exposed to the virus or spreading it to others, but these measures are not enough.

“Vaccines will work with your immune system so it will be ready to fight the virus if you are exposed.

The combination of getting vaccinated and following CDC’s recommendations to protect yourself and others will offer the best protection from COVID-19,” the CDC says.

Stopping a pandemic requires using all the tools that are available.
