THE general manager of Zimbabwe Rhodesia National Trade Fair, Mr Graham Rowe, said yesterday he could foresee “several new and exciting” international pavilions being built in the next few years.
Only three pavilions were owned by foreign governments, and when this country was recognised he hoped Trade Fair would regain all previous international exhibitors.
He told Bulawayo Rotary Club 72 percent of the exhibition space for this year had been sold, with still two months to go.
“We are at a similar stage to what we were last year, but with a bonus of three weeks because of the postponement,” Mr Rowe said.
“There are 596 cattle entries against 634 last year, a fantastic effort. Horse entries are encouraging.”
Last year’s Fair had biggest attendances for five years, and indications were that this year “we will do just as well.”
LESSONS FOR TODAY
The Zimbabwe International Trade Fair continues to grow and maintain its position as the country’s prime exhibition.
On a continental scale, it is one of the largest intra-regional trade fairs in sub-Saharan Africa. It provides a convenient trade hub for the region, and welcomes both trade and public visitors.
This year’s 63rd edition of the ZITF, will be held from April 25-29, has so far attracted 415 exhibitors with a total of 46 200 square metres of exhibition space having been reserved – representing 93 percent of the total available space of 49 499 square metres.
This year’s edition of the ZITF will run under the theme: “Continuous innovation; Global competitiveness”.
