A HARARE woman is at odds with her two children following a dispute over land.
Annabell Nyakudya applied for a protection order against her sons, Abel and Kudzanai Nyakudya, citing physical abuse and threats to evict her.
Presiding magistrate Tamara Chibindi granted her the protection order and warned the sons not to intimidate, insult, harass and threaten their mother.
During the court hearing, Annabell said:
“Your Worship, my children are intimidating me, threatening to evict me from where I am staying.
“My husband is late and he left me land where I built my house. Now my children are after that house and they have been threatening to evict me.
“They have a tendency of coming to my place without my permission. Wanotodzura zvirimwa zvangu, ndatambura nevana vekubereka ini.
“I have been farming on this land since I got married.
“My children are disturbing my peace daily. I once reported this issue to Chief Chinhamhora,” said Annabell.
The children disputed the allegations.
“She is my mother and I have no problem with her. The land belongs to our paternal grandparents and we have a share,” said Abel.
“My mother is sabotaging us because we also have a right to that land.
“It’s not hers. Kuchiwa nhaka yese isu towaneyi sevana wemumusha. Iwo ndiwo mutorwa.
“The issue is on this land she doesn’t want to share,” said her other son, Kudzanai.
