Motorcyclist, daughter (six) seriously injured in hit-and-run accident

A MOTORCYCLIST and his six-year-old daughter sustained serious head injuries after their bike was struck by a car in a hit-and-run incident along Kasibo Road in Hwange on Monday evening.

The motorcycle was hit by a blue Honda Fit, which did not stop at the accident scene.

They were taken to a local hospital where they are reported to be in serious condition.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

“Police in Hwange are investigating a hit and run road traffic accident which occurred on June 29, 2026 at around 7:30 pm along Kasibo Road near Kasibo Irrigation Scheme,” he said.

“A motorcyclist who was carrying his six-year-old daughter as a passenger was hit by a blue Honda Fit.

“As a result of the impact, both the rider and his daughter fell onto the road and sustained head injuries.

“The driver of the Honda Fit vehicle did not stop after the accident. Anyone with information should contact any nearest police station.”

In an unrelated incident, police are appealing for information which may lead to the identification and the arrest of a suspect who is wanted in connection with a murder case which occurred at Limpopo Business Centre in Beitbridge on June 26, 2026 at around 2 am in which Vusumuzi Mbedzi (26) died.

The body of the victim was found lying near a nightclub with multiple wounds on the head.
