The Government has taken a significant step towards building a digitally empowered nation in line with the National Development Strategy 2 and Vision 2030 by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with educational technology company Robokorda Zimbabwe yesterday.
The agreement aims to strengthen digital learning, promote innovation, and equip learners with the critical skills required in an increasingly technology-driven global economy.
Speaking after the signing ceremony in Harare, Skills Audit and Development Permanent Secretary, Mrs Rudo Chitiga, said the partnership represents a milestone in the country’s digital transformation agenda.
“This MoU is a strategic investment in human capital development. It is about preparing our learners for the future by ensuring they are equipped with relevant digital skills that respond to the demands of a fast-changing global economy,” she said.
Mrs Chitiga emphasised that artificial intelligence and emerging technologies have become essential tools that must be integrated into modern education systems.
“Artificial intelligence is no longer a luxury; it is now a necessity. If Zimbabwe is to remain competitive, we must embed emerging technologies into our education and training systems to prepare learners for future workplaces,” she said.
The partnership will prioritise upgrading digital learning infrastructure while expanding access to technology, particularly for young people and underserved communities.
“The focus is on inclusivity. We want to ensure that no one is left behind as the country embraces digitalisation,” added Ambassador Chitiga.
Robokorda Zimbabwe chief executive officer, Mr Dambudzo Nyathi, said the MoU signifies a shift from policy formulation to practical implementation through structured collaboration.
“This partnership represents a move from policy to action. It is about empowering young people through digital inclusion, innovation, and enterprise development,” he said.
Mr Nyathi added that the initiative aligns with the country’s broader vision of fostering an innovation-led and inclusive digital economy.
“Young people are at the centre of national transformation. By investing in their digital capabilities, we are laying a foundation for sustainable economic growth and competitiveness,” he said.
The Government acknowledged that partnerships with the private sector are critical for accelerating digital skills development and positioning Zimbabwe as a competitive player in the global digital economy.
This collaboration with Robokorda is expected to create pathways for learners to acquire essential digital skills that are increasingly in demand.
The MoU aims to empower Zimbabwean youths to thrive in a technology-driven world, driving national progress and economic resilience.
