The Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development and the Zimbabwe Agriculture Society (ZAS) on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to revolutionise the agriculture sector.
The partnership, described as a “seed of transformation,” seeks to empower farmers, drive innovation, and ensure sustainable growth. Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development Permanent Secretary Professor Obert Jiri hailed the collaboration as a critical milestone, emphasising its potential to reshape the farming landscape. Dr Jiri said the MoU is anchored on three key pillars: sustainability, innovation, and inclusivity.
“We champion climate-smart agriculture, drought-tolerant crops, and solar-powered irrigation systems to equip our farmers to thrive in a changing climate. This partnership is not for us; it is for the development of our farmers,” he said.
“As the President of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society, I am humbled and honoured to be part of this ceremony at which ZAS is reaffirming its commitment to the sector,” he said.
