ANOTHER night of glitz and glamour at Ster Kinekor in Bulawayo is on the cards as movie goers will rub shoulders with about 20 local celebrities before watching the premiere of superhero film Thor: Ragnarok on Friday night.
The Bulawayo public seems to be embracing the new movie house which has had brisk business ever since it opened doors last month.
To add excitement to the movie premiere, local celebrities including Arthur Evans, rapper Cal Vin and Afro pop musician Mzoe 7 are expected to mix and mingle with movie goers while dressed to the nines.
Tickets are already on sale at the movie house situated on the Bulawayo Centre first floor. Doors will open at 6PM and on the red carpet, people will be afforded an opportunity to take photos with the personalities.
The movie will be shown as from 7PM in two 3D Cinemas.
Said Ster Kinekor spokesperson Maybe Simbisai: “We want people from Bulawayo to have an opportunity to watch movies with their local celebrities. It’s just another chance for us to treat the people of Bulawayo to great entertainment.”
She thanked Bulawayo residents for supporting them.
“Attendance at the movie house has been good ever since we opened last month. The busiest days are Tuesdays when patrons pay half price and Friday likely because it’s a weekend. But no day beats Saturday.
“Themed nights such as Girlfriends Getaway on Thursday are also proving popular.”
She said children and couples are their biggest customers.
“Most of the people who come to watch movies are couples. The kids are also coming in their numbers to watch movies like Emoji while adults enjoy Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
“We expect another animation movie The Jungle Gang to be popular with mostly primary and pre-school children,” said Simbisai.
About the movie, Thor: Ragnarok, Simbisai said it is a 2017 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Thor, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
The film is directed by Taika Waititi with a screenplay by Eric Pearson and written by Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost.
It stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo, and Anthony Hopkins.
In Thor: Ragnarok, Thor must defeat the Hulk in a gladiatorial duel in time to save Asgard from Hela and the coming Ragnarok.
