THE usually vibrant Mbare Grillz turned into a sea of elegance last Sunday night as Zimbabweans from all walks of life gathered to bid farewell to Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2025, Lyshanda Moyas.
The all-white send-off party was nothing short of spectacular, blending glitz, artistry and national pride in celebration of the reigning queen’s upcoming journey to Thailand for the Miss Universe pageant in November.
Moyas will join other girls from various countries to compete for the coveted Miss Universe crown at Impact Arena, Exhibition and Convention Centre.
The all-white event, a fusion of music and pageantry, drew some of the country’s biggest stars, including Jah Prayzah, Chillmaster and Delroy Shewe, among others who all brought their unique flair to the night.
Jah Prayzah, captivated the crowd with a powerful live set that had socialites and pageant fans alike on their feet. His performance underscored the cultural pride that infused the event, reminding many that Moyas will not only be representing Zimbabwe’s beauty but also its vibrant arts and culture on the global stage.
He brought Moyas on stage as he performed “Nyeredzi” to the jovial of many.
Chillmaster, with his signature beats, kept the party mood alive, adding the Zimdancehall spark, while Delroy Shewe added a touch of contemporary groove, ensuring that the entertainment matched the occasion’s grandeur.
The fusion of traditional and modern soundscapes mirrored the symbolic journey Moyas is embarking on — carrying Zimbabwe’s traditions into a modern, global spotlight.
Among the notable attendees were Zimbabwe’s leading socialites and the entire board of Miss Universe Zimbabwe, whose presence emphasised the weight of the occasion.
Their support for Moyas, who has already become a household name, echoed in the warm speeches and toasts given throughout the night.
For many, the event was more than a send-off; it was a statement that the nation stands united behind its queen.
Moyas, glowing in a stunning white short dress that perfectly captured the evening’s theme, was clearly moved by the outpouring of love and encouragement.
Taking to the stage, she addressed the crowd with confidence and gratitude, exuding the poise that has become her trademark since clinching the crown.
“I feel incredibly prepared for this journey,” she said with a broad smile. “Zimbabwe is on my shoulders, and I carry it with pride. I know the world is waiting, and I am ready to show them our strength, resilience, and beauty.”
The queen’s sincerity struck a chord with the audience, who erupted into applause.
Later in the evening, she added, “This isn’t just about me; it’s about Zimbabwe.
From Mbare to Harare, from Bulawayo to Mutare, I am representing every young girl who dreams big. I am going to Thailand not only to compete but to make sure our flag flies high.”
The timing of the celebration was symbolic.
Moyas departs at the end of October to join the international boot camp, a rigorous pre-pageant training and networking programme that prepares contestants for the global stage. The weeks ahead will see her immersed in grooming, rehearsals, cultural exchange, and charity-driven activities before the main competition in November.
The all-white theme, chosen to represent purity, unity and new beginnings, resonated deeply with attendees.
Socialites and dignitaries alike dazzled in their immaculate outfits, turning Mbare Grillz into a runway of its own. Photos and videos flooded social media, with hashtags like #QueenLyshanda, #MbareSendOff, and #Zimbabwe-ToTheWorld trending well into the night.
As the party wound down, the mood remained jubilant but purposeful.
For many, the evening was not just about glamour but about acknowledging the immense responsibility that Moyas carries.
Her send-off reflected Zimbabwe’s growing commitment to the global arts and cultural stage, signalling that the country is not only participating but competing with intent.
Moyas’ send-off at Mbare Grillz was more than an all-white party; it was a cultural moment that wove together artistry, national pride and international ambition.
As she prepares to embark on the journey of a lifetime, the message from Zimbabwe was loud and clear: She does not walk alone.
