Allied security chief executive Mr Bekezela Moyo bagged the Businessman of the Year award at the 2022-2023 Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) Matabeleland awards ceremony last week .

The ZNCC awards honour and recognise remarkable business performance in the previous fiscal year.

The awards are a build-up to the National Business Awards which will be held in Victoria Falls from June 28 to 30 this year.

Adjudicators of the awards said they were impressed by the fact that Mr Moyo was a dynamic, innovative and adaptable individual.

“He is flexible, self-motivated and has a high level of professional and personal integrity,” the panel said.

Mr Moyo is also the Economic Empowerment Group (EEG) vice president.

Mr Moyo, who owns Carrymine Complex, thanked ZNCC for awarding him the best entrepreneur award.

“As I look back, this has been a long journey,” he said. “At the very onset of the journey there was disbelief among those who knew me.

“They questioned me on the wisdom of choosing to walk a road travelled by a few people.

“Like any entrepreneur, we faced challenges due to sanctions imposed on our country. The temptation to quit was strong, but I thank God for the grace given to survive.”

Mr Moyo thanked President Mnangagwa for creating a conducive business environment for the locals, who are benefiting from his policies.

EEG is an economic group that lobbies for economic empowerment of people.
