MOZAMBIQUE’S Speaker of Parliament Ms Margarida Adamugi Talapa met members of the Mozambican community in Harare today as part of her official visit to Zimbabwe.
During the engagement, the Speaker told the community that President Daniel Chapo is committed to improving their welfare through various development programmes.
She said the Mozambican government is implementing empowerment programmes targeting all Mozambicans regardless of their political background.
Ms Talapa indicated that Mozambique had recorded tangible development projects since President Chapo took over the country’s governance.
The Mozambican Speaker said peace and stability are topping President Chapo’s priorities as a way of attracting investment.
On security, she said terrorism in Cabo Delgado remains a problem affecting Mozambique and its people, including the Mozambican community outside the country.
She said the army is working to address the terrorists’ threat and thanked Zimbabwe for its support in dealing with the conflict.
Ms Talapa urged the Mozambican community in Zimbabwe to share ideas and challenges that could help develop their country.
She also called for unity among Mozambicans, saying peace and cooperation are important for achieving economic independence.
