MPILO Central Hospital has appealed to health practitioners and Zimbabweans in the Diaspora to return home and help improve service delivery.

Speaking on the sidelines of a donation made to the hospital’s ward B6 by a United Kingdom-based Diasporan, Mr Dumisani Moyo, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr Leonard Mabandi urged Diasporans to help the hospital.

“There are our colleagues who are in the Diaspora who can do a lot to help us. We have health workers who have gained a lot of experience that can be very useful back home.

“They have good exposure which can help us improve our health delivery services,” he said.

Mr Moyo said he hoped to inspire fellow Diasporans to give back to the community.

“It’s an honour to extend a helping hand. I started donating in 2009 after discovering that my father was HIV positive so I supported him, he’s now 86. I saw it best to continue helping people who need medical assistance,” he said.

Mr Moyo donated mattress protectors, gloves and sanitizers worth about $4 300.

He said he had adopted the ward and was in the process of renovating it.

“What is most important is that this donation is a starting point for improving B6. I have mobilised other Diasporans to help in renovating the ward and work is expected to start in July”.
