Addressing residents and party members, Dr Chombo said the centre benefited all members of society.
“Mpopoma Welfare Trust was established in 1995 as a response to President Mugabe’s call for leaders to have programmes that impart practical skills to people. This programme is in line with Dr Ndlovu’s background as an adult educator and shows that learning does not stop at school. Such programmes should be promoted in the whole country,” said Dr Chombo.
He congratulated Dr Ndlovu for running the centre, which he said helped to keep youths away from the streets where they could get involved in crime and drug abuse.
Dr Ndlovu said the centre was a practical empowerment tool at which residents acquired skills like computer aided designing and world-class qualifications such as the International Computer Driver’s Licence (ICDL).
The centre boasts of five computers and is coordinated by twins Mkhululi and Mkhulumeli Ndlovu.
