Mpopoma to host Bulawayo Social Soccer League finals

There will be a Bulawayo Social Soccer League Champion of Champions final pitting the city’s 2014 group winners 70 Combination and Matshobana at Mpopoma’s Bango Field on Sunday.Jonathan Dube, the BSSL chairman said the final would be curtain-raised by two other matches as part of the day’s activities.

“There’ll be a total of three matches from six of Bulawayo’s best teams. The first match will be between BSSL group runners-up Makokoba’s Makwee Football Club and Skippers FC from Mpopoma, the second match will pit BSSL referees against league coaches and the main event being between the BSSL 2014 group champions, 70 Combination who topped Group A facing Matshobana FC who were the Group B winners,” said Dube.

He said the winner of the main event will be awarded the BSSL Cup with some players getting individual awards.

“The winner of the main event will get the BSSL Trophy and we’ll be issuing individual awards for some players who would have shown good talent,” he said.

Dube invited soccer enthusiasts to come to Mpopoma for a fun-filled day of football action.

“We’re inviting all soccer lovers to come and enjoy themselves in what I can say are the highlights of the 2015 BSSL football season,” he said.

Dube said they will be holding their BSSL annual general meeting on March 1 at PataPata Sports Bar.

“We’ll be reviewing the 2014 season and making plans for the forthcoming season expected to start in March.  All teams should make sure that they send not more than two representatives to the meeting,” said Dube.
