THE Zanu-PF Matabeleland South provincial leadership has called for continued teamwork among Members of Parliament and councillors as they spearhead development in the province.
Speaking at a Provincial Co-ordinating Committee (PCC) meeting at the Zanu-PF provincial headquarters in Gwanda Town yesterday, the party’s provincial chairperson, Cde Andrew Langa, said MPs and councillors should work together for the province to move forward in terms of development.

“Zanu-PF won resoundingly here in Matabeleland South because we worked as a team. We need to maintain that same spirit because our victory is proof that we now have less people in opposition parties in this province. Therefore, we need to continue working as a unit and see to it that we don’t create any factions within the party,” he said.

Cde Langa said respect for each other was a vital component that would keep party members united.

Cde Langa who is also the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture and Insiza North MP said the time had come for the MPs and councillors to fulfil promises made during the election campaign period.

“People who voted for us have high expectations. We should go back to the people and thank them for voting for the revolutionary party and also hear from them what they expect us to do because what I might want to do could be contrary to what the people want,” said Cde

Langa.

Victory celebrations are expected to be held across the province. Zanu-PF won all the 13 National Assembly seats in the province.

Speaking at the same occasion, Politburo member Cde Richard Ndlovu also concurred with Cde Langa, saying it was of paramount importance for the leaders to speak with one voice.

“We need to remain united and seek advice from the party leadership where there is a need so that we move together as a party. Let us make sure that in whatever we do, we have the support of our leadership so that we avoid any frictions. We don’t want to hear of a situation whereby an MP would be doing his own programmes without working with ward councillors because such acts can raise eyebrows. If there is no unity, then there is no party,” said Cde Ndlovu.
