THE National University of Science and Technology (Nust) campus came alive this past Saturday as it hosted a colourful and glamorous Mr and Miss Nust 2026 pageant. The event transformed the university into a stage for elegance, confidence and celebration, showcasing both beauty and intellect among students.

The night saw Moreblessing Lelani Ndlovu crowned Miss Nust 2026, with Milter Moyo finishing as first runner-up and Jacqueline Thabile Dube taking second runner-up. In the men’s category, Anesu Jordan Moyo walked away with the Mr Nust 2026 title, followed by Stanley Moyo as first runner-up and David Yakobe as second runner-up.

In the Miss Curvy category, Anotidaishe Nyathi took the crown, while Bongokuhle Tatiana Ncube finished as runner-up. The event also marked a symbolic handover, as outgoing titleholders Nomqhele Sisasenkosi Nkomo and Takudzwa Chihambakwe passed on their crowns to the new winners.

The winners received significant prizes, with both Mr and Miss Nust taking home US$5 000 each, sponsored by Sakunda Holdings and businessman Dr Kudakwashe Tagwirei.

First runners-up received US$2 500 each, while second runners-up were awarded US$1 500 each.

Miss Curvy Nust 2026 also received US$5 000, matching the top prize in the main categories. In addition, both the Miss Nust and Miss Curvy winners were awarded an all-expenses-paid trip to Victoria Falls.

Adding to the inclusive spirit of the event, Ambassador Apphia Musavengana announced that every contestant would receive US$200 for taking part. The gesture was inspired by President Mnangagwa’s mantra: “Ilizwe lakhiwa ngabanikazi balo” – a nation is built by its owners.

The competition featured strong performances from a number of contestants including Tanyarara Mhaka, Ivy Sikhosana, Busiso Mlilo, Takunda Kuloe Mushambi and Beloved Mironga, all of whom impressed both the judges and the audience with their confidence and creativity.

Addressing the audience, Nust SRC president Russell Mashinya praised the event, describing it as a success that continues to strengthen campus culture and unity among students.

“What a spectacular, high-energy night. The elegance, intellect and excellence on display proved one undeniable truth: Nust students are simply the best in Zimbabwe. We’re visionary, creative and the ultimate definition of youth excellence,” he said.

Mashinya also expressed appreciation to sponsors and university stakeholders for supporting the pageant, noting that it has grown into an important platform for student engagement and leadership development.

He went on to challenge students to play an active role in shaping Zimbabwe’s future through innovation and academic achievement.

“As NUST students, we’re not just adapting to the future, we’re designing it. We’re the technocrats, scientists and innovators who’ll drive Vision 2030 and shape Zimbabwe’s industrial future,” he said. Mr and Miss Nust were also presented with Toyota Aqua vehicles.
