THE road to the Mr and Miss Rural Zimbabwe national finals enters its final stage this weekend, with Mashonaland East set to host its provincial finals on Saturday.
The pageant has already been held in Manicaland, Masvingo, Matabeleland South and Matabeleland North provinces, with the competitions providing a platform for aspiring models from rural communities to showcase their talent.
A total of 34 models are expected to take part in the Mashonaland East finals on August 23.
Mr and Miss Rural Zimbabwe founder Sipho Mazibuko said preparations were progressing well, with contestants expected to attend a boot camp in Domboshava tomorrow.
“The models are busy preparing for bootcamp on Friday in Domboshava. Designers are already working on the wardrobe. The models have prepared their cultural wear and are busy reciting izitemo/mitupo,” said Mazibuko.
She said castings would be conducted in the remaining provinces yet to hold their provincial competitions.
“Thirty-four models are set to take part in Mashonaland East province and for the other remaining provinces we will do castings,” she said.
The national grand finale is scheduled for September 27 at Heritage Village in Harare.
The pageant seeks to identify and promote modelling talent from rural communities while creating opportunities for aspiring models to pursue professional careers in the industry.
