Mr and Ms Novice organisers upbeat

Bodybuilding and Fitness Association president Keith Chirimhanzi yesterday said they are only left with a few areas of concern before the show.
“So far I can say that the preparations have gone well. The response from the sponsors and the athletes has been encouraging although we are still to conclude with a few sponsors.

“Once we have concluded with the sponsors, which should be before the end of the week, we then work out the prizes,” he said.
Chirimhanzi said they have already confirmed the booking of the venue and entries for athletes are now coming in.
The Mr and Ms Novice contest is making a return from the cold after its was last held in 2010, having earlier been off the radar for over a decade.

“We are expecting to receive athletes from Bulawayo, Chegutu, Gweru, Mutare and other areas outside Harare.
“Harare will also have its entries,” said Chirimhanzi.
Local muscle-endowed athletes who are eager to break into bodybuilding could use the Mr and Ms Novice as a springboard to more prestigious events.

The competition, only open for first-timers, has the senior men’s category, combined women and junior men.
“There is also going to be Mr and Ms Novices Wheelchair and this is a way of reaching out to the physically challenged athletes.

“Its also going be exciting with the fitness and bikini for women and the fitness and physique for men,” said Chirimhanzi.
Both pre-judging and the main event will be done at the same time.
