FIVE times in a row Mr Bulawayo, Lovemore Munyamana has to wait a little longer to defend his title as the show is scheduled for next month at Elite 400.
John Mhangwa, the Bulawayo Metropolitan Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (BMBBFA) chairman said the competition will be held on 14 October.
The reason he gave for that is because they endeavour to have the show a week before Mr Zimbabwe which is taking place on 21 October this year in Harare. BMBBFA vice-chairman Thompson Mpala is still the main sponsor for Mr Bulawayo.
“Mr Bulawayo is taking place on 14 at Elite 400, our executive is meeting anytime from Monday, we want to have it a week before Mr Zimbabwe.
Thompson Mpala is still the sponsor, what we want to know if he is sponsoring whole competition or some prizes,’’ Mhangwa said.
On why the competition was staged in August last year, Mhangwa explained that Mr Ironman was postponed, which affected Mr Bulawayo’s dates.
“Last year, Mr Ironman delayed, that is why we had Mr Bulawayo in August. Our preparations are already underway, there are others who said they will assist us so we want to know how far they have gone. With Mpala’s assistance and the others, we hope to have a successful competition,’’ he said.
Last year, Munyamana got a Samsung Tab 3 and $150 for being the champion for the fifth time in a row since 2012 with the prizes provided by Mpala. Shantel Greenland was crowned Ms Bulawayo for a second consecutive year.
Meanwhile, Munyamana is trying to raise funds to enable him to compete in the Gentle Giant Classic in Johannesburg, South Africa on 16 September.
The entry fee for the competition is pegged at R3 000 and Munyamana has appealed for well wishers for assistance to enable him to compete in South Africa. -@Mdawini_29
