THE impossible happened and a Zimbabwean scored the winning goal.
His name is Daniel Msendami and he expressed his delight after his Botswana side Jwaneng qualified for the Caf Champions League group stages after beating South African giants Orlando Pirates on penalties after a 1-1 aggregate score.
His goal the week before was the difference between the two sides and meant that his team goes to Orlando with a one goal lead.
The 22 year old said that it is a dream come true for him to achieve qualification to the continent’s biggest club competition.
“At this point to have achieved the things I have with this team especially at such a short time. We will continue fighting against all odds to make sure that we make the people of our community and country proud.
Right now we focus on making sure that we do our best locally to make sure that we win in every competition”, said Msendami.
He is not the only Zimbabwe international in the team. Nqobizitha Masuku and Cleopas Dube who are also former Highlanders players play in Morena Ramoreboli’s side.
Msendami and his team will shift their focus to Botswana Premier League action which started this weekend and they start with an away match against Holy Ghost Football Club at VTM Arena on Sunday.
