Msendami’s Jwaneng Galaxy face off with Orlando Pirates

ZIMBABWEAN midfielder Daniel Msendami, representing Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy, is gearing up for a monumental clash against the renowned Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates, in the final preliminary round of the Caf Champions League.
This clash follows their hard-fought victory over Uganda’s Vipers, securing a 3-2 aggregate win.

With this exciting challenge on the horizon, Msendami exudes enthusiasm and determination.
“It is a huge task ahead for the team and for me as well. But I also have to enjoy the moment at the same time. I am looking forward to this huge experience,” said Msendami.

Msendami has been a pivotal presence in the Jwaneng Galaxy squad. His contributions have been consistent, dating back to last season when they clinched the Botswana Premier League title. In the current season, his performances in Africa’s premier club competition has been noteworthy, featuring prominently in both encounters against Vipers.

The midfielder extends his appreciation to his coach, Morena Ramoreboli, for instilling trust in him throughout this remarkable journey.
“It has been fantastic working under coach Ramoreboli. It is very difficult coming from a foreign land to gain a coach’s trust but I am happy and thankful to him that he has given me the platform to express myself and to regularly improve.”

Msendami’s journey with Jwaneng Galaxy began last year, and he has since been joined by two experienced compatriots — Nqobizitha Masuku and Cleopas Dube. Their presence has added depth and a sense of camaraderie to the team’s recent continental successes, making them invaluable mentors to Msendami.

“They are much more experienced and they are my big brothers. It becomes even easier with them around so they play a very important role in my career at the moment and I also appreciate them a lot,” he also said.

Fully aware of the formidable challenge posed by Orlando Pirates, Msendami and his team are approaching the showdown with utmost preparation. He acknowledges the Pirates’ reputation as a powerhouse not only in the region but also across the continent.

“Pirates is a big side not only in the region but also in the continent. Everyone knows and watches them. The list of quality players in their team is endless. If I am not mistaken, they have the current league’s top scorer in their team. We also believe in ourselves and I believe that we can prevail if we play up to our fullest potential,” he said.

The first match of their two-legged tie against Pirates will be played on the 16th of September at the National Stadium in the country’s capital city, Gaborone on 1500 hours CAT.
