After making an impressive entry into the Tshibilika/Rhumba genre with the well-received single Imali Yesigweja 2.0, versatile musician Fab G Mshanakagogo is embarking on a new musical chapter under the moniker Mshanakagogo.
The artiste is set to release his debut Tshibilika/Rhumba album, Ekuhle, in mid-August, a seven-track project. With the album, the artiste born Prince Qhubani Mpofu will formally introduce his new musical identity while maintaining
Fab G as the name under which he will continue releasing music in other genres.
The album features tracks Imali Yesigweja 2.0, Idibula Tibula, Ng’phuma Mjolo, Amatshatshazi, Utshwala featuring
Madlela Skhobokhobo, Umdeni, and an introductory track, Salibonani. Ekuhle was recorded, mixed and mastered by Neshville at RockupStudioz, with Maroza providing the guitar work.
Speaking about the project, Mshanakagogo said the album represents a personal and artistic homecoming.
“With gratitude and pride, I’m excited to share the arrival of my debut project rooted in the sound of home, Ekuhle. Ekuhle means greetings. In my culture, when you arrive where others are already gathered, you begin with greetings.
“This is my first album in this sound and it marks a new chapter in my career. I’m arriving. I’m greeting you. I’m home. Salibonani (Intro) explains it best.”
Although the exact release date is still being finalised, the musician assured fans the album will be available before mid-August.
“The time has come. On this Tshibilika/Rhumba sound, I’ll be using the name Mshanakagogo. Fab G will live on through my other sounds. I’ve always been a multi-genre artist, flexible to explore any sound within my ability and that path has led me here.
“This seven-track album is my heart, my growth, raw, honest and rooted to where I come from. Therefore, I’m ready to share it with the world. To every Mshanakagogo fan and music lover: Ngiyabonga kakhulu. Your love carried me here. I prepared this project for you. I’m kindly asking for your support as we build this together.”
