MSU gain promotion

MSU was scheduled to meet Gwanda United but the replacement, Town United, also withdrew citing lack of value in the play-off’s .
While Zifa Central Region secretary-general Stanley Chapeta said the promotion had been put on hold, a letter signed by administrator Gift Nyapomwe invited MSU to register by Friday.

“The play-off has been suspended after your opponents withdrew. You are invited to pay your registration fees at the office by the 16th of March,” reads part of the letter.
MSU secretary-general Raymond Mugandani confirmed receiving the letter on Friday.
“As we speak, we are already finalising on the squad and the finances to pay by the due date,” said Mugandani.

Contacted for comment Chapeta sang the opposite song saying promotion had been put on hold as the region was yet to finalise on the empty slots.
“We have put the promotion on hold as we are still finalising on the empty slots since some teams are likely going to fail to register,” said Chapeta.

If finally confirmed MSU’s sound sports policy will reach new heights with the higher education institution boasting of teams in the various provincial and regional leagues.
The basketball teams are part of the Southern Region Basketball League while the volleyball team is in the provincial league. Other sporting disciplines include darts, tennis, cricket, rugby and netball.
