MSU produced a magnificent comeback to beat Makusha 2-1 in a Zifa Central Soccer League (CSL) match at the weekend.

MSU left it late, but levelled the score line through Kudzai Marevesa in the first minute of stoppage time before securing maximum points through Phumulani Ncube.

The win saw the students maintaining fourth place on the league table with 14 points, a point behind log leaders ZPC Munyati, who overcame Gwanda United 2–1 at Pelandaba Stadium.

MSU gaffer Themba Chingwena was happy with the win and said he wants to see his charges maintaining the good form.

“The players showed character and a fighting spirit which I believe is the hallmark of champions. We want to ensure we continue on the same path and continue winning games and see where it leaves us at the end of the season,” said Chingwena.

His Makusha counterpart Rangarirai Nenerai blamed the loss on a lapse in concentration by his players in the dying stages of the game.

Elsewhere, the match pitting Whawha and Nichrut lived up to its billing, but failed to produce any goals and ended 0–0.

Nichrut were in control of the match in the first half, but Whawha took the game to their opponents in the second half.
