The rehabilitation of the Mt Darwin–Mukumbura Road construction project is progressing well in Mashonaland Central, with road surfacing now underway.
Mt Darwin–Mukumbura Road, also known as Ndoda–Hondo Road, is an ongoing infrastructure initiative aimed at improving regional connectivity, easing travel, and boosting access to the Mukumbura Border Post.
The project upgrades the vital transport corridor linking Mt Darwin to Mukumbura, facilitating local business, reducing transit times, and opening up economic opportunities for surrounding communities.
In a statement, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development said, “Surfacing is currently underway on the Mt Darwin–Mukumbura Road Construction Project, popularly known as the Ndoda Hondo Road.
“The ongoing works mark another important milestone in the transformation of this strategic road corridor, bringing the project closer to delivering a smoother, safer and more reliable road network for motorists and surrounding communities.”
Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara) also said the transformation of this key road is taking shape and bringing improved infrastructure closer to communities.
“The project is set to open up economic opportunities, stimulate local business and support development in the area,” Zinara said.
