MT St Mary’s High School has been commended for producing leaders.

“This school has produced leaders and today we are gathered to witness one such success,” said Min Machakaire.

“I am delighted to note that this school has become a very big institution that has produced highly respected, educated and learned people in our society.

“I call upon all people who passed through the doors of this institution to come forward and help in its development.

“This school needs a concerted effort, financial and morale support from all stakeholders in as far as its development is concerned.

“To all former students, I say we are what we are today because of Mt St Mary’s High School.

“This school is facing a lot of challenges which need to be addressed by all stakeholders.”

School Development Committee chairperson and former student, Passmore Nyasha, thanked dedicated teachers, parents, the Catholic Church and their community for their unwavering support.

St Mary’s High School headmaster, Shepherd Dzvairo, commended parents and former students for using social media positively.

He said a number of parents, guardians and former students have been joining a WhatsApp group where they discuss school development issues.

“Allow me to thank some parents, guardians and former students who added me in their WhatsApp groups for discussing ways to develop our school.

“This is highly commended considering that we have some parents whose groups are to attack without coming up with constructive criticism for development.

“We managed to retain our best teachers because of those who pay their fees on time and it contributed much on the students pass rate.

“Let us all join hands in building our children as well as developing our school structures and also have an A Level Science laboratory,” said Dzvairo.

Dzvairo said the school pass rate has risen from 73 percent recorded in 2022 to 86 percent in 2023.
