THE CUSTODIANS of horse racing in the country, Mashonaland Turf Club (MTC) have declared their readiness to host the OK Grand Challenge Race set for 5 June at the Borrowdale Racecourse in Harare.
This was said by MTC official Tim Bele as preparations for this event gather momentum. According to Bele, the weight and draws stage were done on Friday while the final field will be accepted tomorrow.
When asked if there were any big guns of the game from South Africa, Bele said this time around they received only one runner Cash Time. As it stands in the hat are 31 tried and tested runners battling for a place among the final field to be loaded for the 1 800m clash in search of the fastest bird.
In 2018 the competition was won by one horse with a strong nose for money, Simona, from Stidolph Racing. For now horses trained by Bridget Stidolph as well as Gokhan Terzi are enjoying themselves as shown by the number of accolades they have delivered to their respective stables.

Early this month Terzi put around his neck six winners’ medals after six of the horses he saddled all came out victorious in their respective races. Not to be intimidated Stidolph gave Terzi a run for his money two weeks later on 16 May after five of her running horses went back to the stables victorious.
