Mthwakazi hails peaceful environment

Thupeyo Muleya Beitbridge Bureau
Mthwakazi Republic Party’s (MRP) candidate for Beitbridge West constituency Mr Brighton Ithutheng Sibanda has described the political environment in the country as peaceful and conducive to hold harmonised elections set for the end of this month.

In an interview yesterday, Mr Sibanda said the new dispensation led by President Mnangagwa had done a lot to enhance the holding of free and fair elections on July 30.

“The Government has done enough to make the political environment good and conducive for campaigning, though it is not the best,” he said.

“I have been conducting door-to-door campaigns peacefully without any harassment or intimidation. The response from the electorate is encouraging and my chances of winning the ticket to Parliament in Beitbridge West area is 50-50.”

Mr Sibanda said though the environment was optimal for campaigning, he still had challenges reaching out to all areas in the constituency.

Mr Sibanda will square off against Zanu-PF’s Cde Ruth Maboyi, MDC Alliance’s Enock Singo, Mr Moffat Ndou (PRC) and Mr Ronald Ndlovu (FreeZim Congress Party).
