Natasha Mtomba struck a superb unbeaten 112 off 104 balls as Queens Sports Club piled up 323 for five before powering to a 226-run victory over Mbizo Women in their NPL Women’s Super 40 match at Bulawayo Athletic Club on Friday.
Batting at number three, Mtomba’s innings featured 11 fours and a six.
She shared a commanding third-wicket partnership of 189 with Loreen Tshuma, who made 96.
Faced with a daunting target, Mbizo were unable to mount a serious challenge and were bowled out for 97 in 30.4 overs, with one batter absent hurt.
Meanwhile, Precious Marange claimed four wickets for 17 runs as Takashinga Queens secured a convincing 66-run victory over Ghetto Stars Women in another NPL Women’s Super 40 match at Old Hararians on Friday.
Takashinga were bowled out for 138 in 25 overs after slipping to 70 for nine.
Adelaide Zimunu then found valuable support from number 11 Buhlebenkosi Maphosa as the pair added 68 for the final wicket, with Maphosa finishing unbeaten on 35.
Audrey Mazvishaya was Ghetto Stars’ standout bowler with three for 27.
In reply, Ghetto Stars were dismissed for 72, with only two batters reaching double figures as Marange ripped through the top order.
In another match, Beloved Biza produced a match-winning unbeaten 92 as Gladiators Women chased down 202 to beat Ghetto Stars Women by three wickets in the other NPL Women’s Super 40 fixture at Mutare Sports Club on Sunday.
Ghetto Stars made a strong start through an opening stand of 94 between Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano (47) and Nyasha Gwanzura (37), while Pellagia Mujaji top-scored with 52 from 74 balls to lift the total to 201.
Gladiators stumbled to 47 for three before Biza took charge with a superb knock from 73 deliveries, striking 11 fours.
