The stage has been set for Oliver Mtukudzi and Alick Macheso’s gig tonight at the Harare International Conference Centre. Exciting moments are expected at the show as the two giants usher fun loving people into Africa Day with celebrations. Mtukudzi will be sampling his new album “Eheka Nhai Yahwe” for the first time in Harare while Macheso continues with his journey following the launch of his album “Tsoka Dzerwendo”.Tungamirai Simango, a representative of Tuku music, said musical fans should expect fireworks at the gig.
“Africa Day is one of the most cherished days in the history of the continent and as Zimbabweans we decided to bring the two giants together to celebrate the day,” he said.
Simango said music lovers are spoiled for a choice as the superstar unveils songs from his new album.
“The album will be released in June but today fans will have the privilege to have the songs played live,” he said.
Some of the songs from the coming album that will be played tonight include “Matsimbe”, “Shanje”, “Inungo”, “Bhiza” and “Ndinetsva”.
Mtukudzi has released several albums that have been well received by music lovers.
Macheso has been on top of his game with his new album.
His spokesperson Tich Makahamadze said it was important that the two giants meet on a special day in the history of Africa.
“The two guys have done joint shows and we are happy that this time around they will be ushering Zimbabweans into the important day,” he said.
That will be another chance for them to introduce their prodigal sons Obert Gomba, Noel Nyazanda and Jonasi Kasamba who left the group three years ago.
Upcoming musician Sam Dondo will also be part of the gig.
The young musician, who is enjoying the success of his gig at Bar Rouge over the weekend said he was looking forward to sharing stage with the great musicians.
“I shared stage with them on my album launch and it is encouraging to see them calling me to such high profile gigs,” he said.
His album Dyara Munamato is fast gaining ground though critics say he still has a long way to go.
