Mubaiwa new DeMbare boss

Dynamos board of directors made concessions on the restructuring of the executive committee.
Harare business executive Farai Munetsi, who was the club chairman before the changes, is set to remain in the enlarged executive but will step down from its leadership and assume a new role.

Kenny Mubaiwa, who was the vice-chairman under the Munetsi executive, is the new chairman as he enjoys the support of the majority of the directors.
Munetsi, who enjoys the support of board of directors chairman Richard Chiminya, has been tasked to head the marketing and public relations portfolio under the new set up.
Chiminya had openly resisted moves by his fellow board members to dissolve the Munetsi-led executive committee but appears to have thawed under increasing pressure from within the board.

Last night sources close to Dynamos said the board of directors sought legal advice, during the course of the week, where they mapped the way forward.
“Chiminya said they should be a matter of continuity within the board and that Munetsi should not be sacrificed,” said the sources.
“This is why Munetsi will be retained in the restructured executive as head of the marketing arm.

“Munetsi has been trying his best and is one of the people working hard towards the club’s Golden Jubilee anniversary and that is why it would be key to retain him.”
Simon Sachiti, secretary-general under the Munetsi leadership, has been moved to a committee member in the new structure with Nyika Chifamba has taken over as the club spokesman.
Chifamba served as Dynamos team manager during their brave campaign in the African Champions League under David Mandigora and Elvis Chiweshe before he was appointed to the executive in the out-going set-up.

Sachiti was appointed secretary-general in March this year when winds of change once again blew at Dynamos but Chifamba is now in that role.
Mbewe survived the purge in the executive in March as the board members targeted him but Oliver Manyau, who was the secretary-general then, was booted out.
Now Mbewe’s nine lives have came to an end after Xenia Business Services released an audit report showing that that the Glamour Boys’ coffers were US$587 461 in the red as of December 31, 2010.

Dynamos were technically bankrupt and their financial situation is believed to have got worse off in the past six months.
Harare businessman, Bernard Gwarada, has been earmarked to take over the post of treasurer at the club.
“But it’s subject to Gwarada agreeing to take up the offer because they want him given that he is someone who had been doing business with Dynamos.

“Its’ still tricky as Gwarada’s fingers were once burnt after he had entered into partnership with Douglas Warriors that failed to work out but he could be interested,” said the sources.
John Kanokanga, who had been roped in as a committee member under Munetsi, has been elevated to be the new vice-chairman, taking over from Mubaiwa.

Kanokanga is a director of Copy World, a company that has been playing a part in printing material for Dynamos’ 50th anniversary next year.
Former Shooting Stars’ chairman Webster Chikengezha bounces back into mainstream football administration as one of the committee members.

“A legal adviser helped the board of directors to formalise the restructuring of the board minutes and a draft was put in place with the names of those people.
“As can be seen, from the new look executive, it has people who are seen a loyal to Chiminya and those who will also serve the interests of the other board members who wanted Munetsi to go out of the picture.

“So this is just a compromise from the way we see it but I hope the appointments will be made official once all the people have been notified,” said the sources.
A member of the powerful Dynamos’ supporters’ executive committee had on Wednesday also revealed the proposed new executive at Rufaro after the side’s Premiership clash against Chicken Inn.

Munetsi was at Rufaro as Dynamos won 1-0 but according to sources he is stepping aside as the boardroom drama at the Harare club continue to unfold.
The other big issue that emerged at the meeting of the directors last month was the issue of players with Dynamos relying on hired material.

The directors were unhappy that they club had been turned into a flea market where its profile was now used as a marketing tool for players who don’t bring anything back to the club. Dynamos recently tied a deal with BancABC, who will pump in US$100 000 into the club this year, with part of that money going into the salaries of the players and technical staff, while the other chunk will cover costs related to kit and transport. Sources last night said the executive was supposed to be introduced to the team yesterday but this was not done.
