Kenny Mubaiwa has been catapulted to the leadership of the new Dynamos executive and he believes that his experience, from the previous administration, will help him.
The Harare businessman replaces Farai Munetsi as chairman of the executive at the volatile Harare club where he has served as vice-chairman.
“I am hoping to make Dynamos a better brand so that it will be the real Dynamos that people know
“We should be meeting the technical team after their BancABC cup game in Chiredzi this week and then map the way forward.
“The meeting between the new executive and the technical team should be able to determine our new targets and how we should achieve them,” said Mubaiwa.
Mubaiwa appealed for unity from all the stakeholders at Dynamos.
“We need to work together and strive to improve in all areas.
“I was privileged to have worked in the previous executive and I have seen how things are done.
“But there are some things that we have to improve on, especially the quality of the players.
“Dynamos need quality players and as the executive we should do everything possible so that the players focus on playing than petty squabbles,” said Mubaiwa.
Mubaiwa said the welfare of players should be addressed so that the team will be able to deliver on the field.
“The issue of signing-on fees and contracts of the players should be tackled once we settle.
“I do not think it’s right to continue having players who come on six-month contracts and then leave us with nothing at the end,” said Mubaiwa.
Mubaiwa was appointed Dynamos vice-chairman in March last year with Munetsi leading the executive.
Before coming to Dynamos, as vice-chairman, Mubaiwa has previously served the club as treasurer in another set-up.
Mubaiwa is hopeful his fellow committee members will serve Dynamos well.
“It did not come as a surprise to me that I was appointed chairman of Dynamos.
“I am sure it was the same for the other members of the executive because consultations were made before the executive and I know Chifamba, Sachiti and Kanokanga are agreeable,” said Mubaiwa.
Gwarada is understood to be outside the country at the moment.
Mubaiwa said his executive would also move with urgency to tie up a contract with defender Guthrie Zhokinyi.
“Guthrie is still in our plans and I have talked to him already.
“The problem was that Guthrie’s contract was expiring at the same time we were given those letters of termination of contract.
“So no one was able to sort out the issue but now that we have been appointed, we are working something and soon he should be back in the team,” said Mubaiwa
Harrison Mbewe has been replaced by Harare businessman Ben Gwarada as the treasurer with former team manager Nyika Chifamba becoming the new secretary-general.
John Kanokanga is the vice-chairman while Simon Sachiti is coming in as a committee member.
Acting secretary to the Dynamos board of directors Benard Marriott Lusengo said the founding fathers were still negotiating with Webster Chikengezha and Farai Munetsi.
“We sat as a board on June 23 and agreed to dissolve the executive committee.
“So we have now come up with a new board rather than saying we have restructured the board.
“During the consultations some people felt that Munetsi should be given a role in marketing but at the same time that role was held by Kanokanga.
“So Munetsi has not been appointed to the marketing position but it’s something still under discussion.
“It’s just surprising that they appear to be a desperation from some people to have Munetsi back in the executive yet in actual fact his executive was dissolved.
“Even Webster Chikengezha has not agreed to the offer yet.
“We are still talking to him and this why even on the letters to the PSL and Zifa, we said the other committee members will be revealed in due course,” said Lusengo.
