A MUTASA family has been rocked by shocking allegations that a father is spiritually abusing his daughters-in-law through mubobobo, also known as “sexual Bluetooth.”
The disturbing claims were laid before Chief Mutasa’s community court, where Jonathan Nyaumwe, accused his father, Luka (Luke) Nyaumwe, of spiritually tormenting their marriages.
Jonathan told the court that his father had allegedly been projecting his image during moments of intimacy, leaving both daughters-in-law traumatised and unable to live normally with their husbands.
He said the bizarre phenomenon had persisted for some time, plunging their households into fear and confusion.
“The problem is that whenever I try to be intimate with my wife, she sees my father’s face on me. The same thing has been happening to my younger brother and his wife. Every time they try to be together as a couple, his wife sees our father’s face,” Jonathan testified.
He said the situation had destroyed peace in their marriages, leaving the couples unable to engage in normal relations.
“Our wives are terrified. We cannot be intimate because of what they see. This has caused tension in our marriages and suspicion among family members. We do not know what to do anymore,” he added.
The visibly disturbed man explained that the family had initially tried to resolve the matter privately, but later sought spiritual intervention after failing to eradicate the problem.
“We ended up dragging our father to a traditional healer because we wanted answers. At the healer’s place, he was caught red-handed and confessed that he had once collected some luck charms during his younger days,” said Jonathan.
He further revealed that the matter took a dramatic twist when the family later informed their sister about the alleged discovery.
“When we went to tell our sister what had happened, my father suddenly denied everything and said it was all lies. That is why we are now here before the court, seeking help,” he explained.
Chief Mutasa summoned the affected daughters-in-law to testify, as the community court sought to unravel the truth behind the extraordinary allegations.
Both women confirmed the disturbing experiences, telling the court that they indeed saw their father-in-law’s face whenever they attempted to be intimate with their husbands.
Sekuru Luka, however, denied ever deliberately engaging in mubobobo or collecting charms for the said purposes.
“I never collected any mubobobo from any traditional healer. If this is indeed happening, I believe someone is using me without my knowledge,” he said in his defence.
Luka told the court that he was only made aware of the allegations after being confronted by his sons.
“I never knew anything about this until my sons came to me making the accusations. They took me to a traditional healer, who recovered an alleged lizard from my jacket, which I did not even know was there,” he said.
According to Luka, the healer claimed the lizard was linked to the alleged sexual ‘Bluetooth’ and later destroyed it.
“He said that was the sexual ‘Bluetooth’ and he burnt it, but I had no idea how it got into my jacket. I still insist that I never knowingly collected any charms,” said the widower, adding that he was deeply troubled by the allegations, particularly because they involved his daughters-in-law.
“All I want is help. I do not want to continue terrorising my daughters-in-law if this thing is truly happening. I am an old man, and I want peace in my family,” said Luka, adding that he had no ill intentions and pleaded with the court to assist him in finding a permanent solution to the alleged problem.
“I never collected luck charms when I was growing up. But now that this issue has come out, I am asking for help so that my family can live freely,” he said.
Chief Mutasa commended Luka for being open before the court and not wasting judicial time by being evasive.
“I appreciate that the old man did not completely close himself off and chose to speak. That helps the court in finding solutions rather than deepening conflicts,” he said, before ordering the family to seek further assistance from a reputable traditional healer to cleanse and protect the family, emphasising that unity and healing were more important than blame game.
However, Chief Mutasa did not mince his words when addressing broader societal concerns surrounding mubobobo.
“There are old men who are greedy and abuse these dark practices to feast on younger women. That behaviour is unacceptable and destroys families,” he warned sternly, adding that such acts, whether deliberate or not, cause long-lasting trauma and mistrust within families and victims.
“This court will not tolerate elders who misuse their positions or age to prey on younger women through spiritual means,” Chief Mutasa said, urging families facing similar problems to seek early intervention rather than allowing issues to fester and explode into public disputes.
The matter was adjourned to allow the family time to comply with the court’s directive and pursue spiritual remedies, with Chief Mutasa stressing reconciliation for the family.
